Stella Márquez Zawadski-Araneta (née Márquez Zawadski) is a former Colombian beauty queen who was crowned the first Miss International in history and became the pageant director and organizer of Binibining Pilipinas since 1964.

Miss International

Araneta is a Colombian woman of Spanish and Polish heritage. She became Miss Colombia in 1959 and was therefore able to compete in the 1960 Miss Universe pageant held in Miami Beach, Florida placing as a top 15 semifinalist. She then competed in the first Miss International pageant held in Long Beach, California, United States in 1960, becoming the very first Miss International in history, and also the first Latin American titleholder.[2]

Binibining Pilipinas

She married Jorge Araneta, a Filipino businessman. Since 1964, she has been the organizer of the most prestigious beauty pageant in the Philippines, Binibining Pilipinas (Filipino for "Miss Philippines"), which sends its winners to the Miss Universe and Miss International competitions.
